Silverfin Developer Community Newsletter

Hello, Technology Enthusiasts!

Welcome to our May edition of the Silverfin Developer Community Newsletter!

This month we want to draw your attention to some UI and UX changes we made with our end-users in mind. These new features include grey backgrounds and grey bottom lines, but since not everything has to be grey, we also introduced input validation ✅ ⛔.

Moreover, have you ever struggled with inconsistencies in the amount of whitespace in your template? Well, we feel your pain! We have written a dedicated section on our Developer site regarding the issues and differences in whitespace, so that at least when you see funny    whitespace   you know where it’s coming from and how to fix it!

🤫 Finally, as a little gift for reading our newsletter up until this point, we want to inform you that even more new UI/UX features are waiting around the corner 🟡 🟢

With this in mind, sit back, relax and enjoy a fresh portion of good news from the Silverfin Developer Community.

HTML tables greyed-out bottom lines ❕

The class ‘usr-grayed-out-line-bottom-input’ has been introduced specifically to increase readability for very wide tables by making it more obvious which text is presented on the same row across columns. Note that these grey lines will only show in input and preview mode, not in PDF!

HTML tables greyed-out background 🩶

Same as for the greyed-out bottom lines, the class ‘usr-grayed-out-background-input’ has been introduced to improve readability in big tables. The class gives off a disabled greyed-out look. This can be useful e.g. on columns with comparative figures. Note that the grey background color will only be shown in input and preview mode, not in PDF!

Whitespace on the Silverfin platform ◻️

As mentioned in the introduction, whitespace can be a bit of a struggle sometimes. That’s why we wrote a little go-to manual on the particularities of whitespace on the Silverfin platform. We hope it’s helpful 🤗

Input validation ✅

Last but not least, on popular demand we have introduced a new Liquid tag called ‘input_validation’. As the name suggests, ‘input_validation’ allows you to make sure the data being entered by the user corresponds to the expected outcome, without the need to build an additional check in Liquid (e.g. an indicator check).
